Metallurgy / Laboratory of Standardization and Metrology
Leading researchers:
- Lyudmila Yamschikova, Chief of the Laboratory
The major fields of activity are:
- Development and revision of the normative documents for lead-zinc industry products;
- Measurements and precision assurance;
- Development and production of the reference samples of lead, zinc, alloys, complex ores and dressing products compositions for analytical control of the results accuracy for measurement of materials chemical composition, metrological certification for measurement techniques, outside quality control of measurements of analytical laboratories, metrological certification, examination and calibration of measuring devices.
The major developments are:
- Interstate standards for zinc, lead, indium, cadmium, thallium, tellurium, zinc dust, zinc sulfate, barite concentrate;
- National standards for zinc dust, zinc and lead concentrates, metallurgical treatment products;
- Technical conditions for zinc, lead-zinc and copper-zinc ores, concentrates and metallurgical treatment products;
- Techniques to perform measurements;
- Technologies for production of reference material.
Interstate Technical Standardization Committee ITC 504 ‘Zinc, Lead’, created on the laboratory basis, develops interstate standards, national standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and regulatory documents of category ‘enterprise standard’. Reference samples of all categories – interstate, state and enterprise – had been produced. Reference samples are intended to provide analytical control of the precision of materials chemical composition determination, metrological certification of measurement techniques, analytical laboratories certification, and metrological certification of measuring devices. Metrological characteristics of reference samples are determined in the result of inter-laboratory analyses, independent in physical and chemical principles, which provide the required uniformity of measurements.
