The Affiliated State Enterprise "The Eastern
Mining-and-Metallurgical Research Institute for Nonferrous
Metals" of the Republican State Enterprise "National Centre
of Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the
Republic of Kazakhstan" (ASE "VNIItsvetmet" of RSE "NE CPMRM
RK") - is multifunctional scientific organization which
carries out research, semi-commercial and commercial tests,
performs design works and renders scientific and technical
assistance in implementation of the developed technologies
and equipment in the field of mining, ore dressing,
metallurgy of heavy nonferrous metals, applied and
analytical chemistry, industrial ecology, standardization
and metrology, economics.
ASE "VNIItsvetmet" acts as head institute of lead-zinc subindustry and
performs duties of improvement and development of technological processes
and equipment of other enterprises of Kazakhstan mining-and-metallurgical
complex.
The main volume of research works (about 100%) Institute performs of the
basis of the contracts with enterprises and organizations from Kazakhstan
Republic, near and far abroad.
The Institute has 17 laboratories; 6 of them are mining, 2 - dressing, 3 -
metallurgical, 3 - environmental and 3 - subsidiary. Moreover, 7 departments
and services are also part of the Institute. The total number of employees
is more than 250.
The basic direction of VNIItsvetmet scientific activity is
scientific-and-technical support of steady functioning of Kazakhstan
mining-and-metallurgical complex on the basis of development and realization
of technologies and equipment which raise scientific-technical level of lead,
zinc and associate metals production. It stipulates solving of the following
problems:
- Development and strengthening of raw-material base;
- Multipurpose use of mineral resources, saving of material and fuel-energy
resources;
- Quality improvement and extension of the range of marketable products;
- Environmental protection;
- Labor and occupational safety protection.
According with the governmental licenses ASE "VNIItsvetmet" performs
technological engineering of industrial facilities for the enterprises
acting in the field of mining, dressing and metallurgy, designs equipment
for these industries, produces standard samples to control quality of
production, is engaged in environmental monitoring, design and regulation.
There are the following bodies within VNIItsvetmet:
- Certification Center for testing of the nonferrous metallurgy production (lead,
zinc, gold, silver, cadmium, indium, tellurium). The Center was accredited
for technical competence by Technical Regulation and Metrology Committee of
Kazakhstan. The Center was found by GosStandart of the Republic of
Kazakhstan.
- Interstate Technical Committee on lead-zinc production standardization
(ITC 504 "lead, zinc"). Status of the Committee was defined by CIS
Interstate Council on standardization, metrology and certification.
The whole complex of research is performing with the application of advanced
experimental, chemical analytical, computer equipment and software.
Autogenic technology for copper and different lead-bearing raw materials
processing - KIVCET process - was developed in VNIItsvetmet. This process is
the most progressive and environmentally friendly technology in the world.
Under VNIItsvetmet license large KIVCET complexes were built at the plants
of the following companies: "Portovesme" (Italy), "Tech Cominco" (Canada), "Comibol"
(Bolivia).
In Kazakhstan KIVCET plants were erected in urban settlement of Glubokoe for
copper raw materials and at Ust-Kamenogorsk lead-zinc Combine (now - JSC "Kazzinc")
for lead raw materials.
VNIItsvetmet received about 450 Kazakhstan and Russia patents, more than 100
patents of other countries. More than 40 license agreements with
organizations and enterprises form Kazakhstan and abroad have been
concluded.
VNIItsvetmet library contains reports of all the works carried out in the
Institute. Scientific-technical achievements for the last 50 years are
accumulated in these reports; this assists Institute scientists to orientate
in complicated problems of the mining-and-metallurgical complex easily.
Moreover, Collection of the Scientific Papers is issued by the Institute
annually. Articles of the Collection represent the selection of the most
valuable scientific achievements of Institute specialists as well as
specialists from other enterprises and organizations.
Technologies and equipment developed by VNIItsvetmet are applied at the
enterprises of mining-and-metallurgical complex of Kazakhstan, CIS
countries, far abroad.
Key customers of the Institute in Kazakhstan are JSC "Kazzinc" (Ridder and
Zyryanovsk mining-and-processing complexes, Ust-Kamenogorsk metallurgical
production), Kazakhmys Corporation Ltd, Bakyrchik Mining Enterprise Ltd, JCS
FIC "Alel", NOVA-Zinc Ltd, Shalkiya Zinc Ltd, Irtysh Rare-earth Company Ltd,
Sary Kazna Ltd, etc.
Major customers from near and far abroad are JSC "Uralmechanobr", Ural
Mining Company, CJSC "Alrosa", JSC "Electrozinc", JSC "Buryatzoloto"
(Russia), Altynken (Kirgizia), Sat&Co MADENCILIK IST.TIC. Company (Turkey),
Portovesme S.r.l. (Italy), Mongolrostsvetmet, etc.
An implementation of VNIItsvetmet' scientific and technical achievement in
production process is being performed in cooperation with leading research
and design organizations from Kazakhstan and Russia.
Annually, since 1998 VNIItsvetmet research activity have been marked with
prestigious international awards for outstanding quality and high standards
of activity and innovations. Within recent years these are: "For high
quality of business" gold medal (Switzerland, 2006), diploma of honour "Star
of Commonwealth" of "Cooperation" International foundation for excellent
business reputation and high professionalism (Russia, Moscow, 2007), "Gold
Phoenix" reward for high business standards (France, Strasbourg, 2008).
